25/06/2002 - Entry #4

Sorry I've not updated for a while. I've been a little busy, what with one thing or another.

First, obviously the job with Badlands. I've supposedly started working for them now, although I still don't really know what I'm meant to be doing. Well, no, I do, but I can't do it until someone else in the production line finishes their stuff. So at the moment I'm just idling around, getting to grips with the project and generally being a third wheel. If I was sensible, I'd use the time to work on my portfolio. I can't possibly draw enough attention to the word "if."

Secondly, WinMX brought out version 3.2 recently, and I've finally upgraded. It has all kinds of freaky new features, like downloading the same thing from hundreds of different people! It's completely pointless, and I love it. Also, now if you don't complete a download, the file is renamed "INCOMPLETE, YOU UTTER MORON! IT'S NOT READY YET, SMELLY SMELLY JOHN BOY!". So that's helpful. Yeah, anyway, I've been taking the opportunity to download obscure John Frusciante mp3s, and Tower of Power singles. Mmmm. Funkifise.

Thirdly, and probably most importantly (in terms of free-time-deprivation) is the release of Warcraft 3. Well, technically it's released in two weeks time, but there are lots of very corrupt and unscrupulous people working in the publishing business, and I thank the lord for their hard work and dedication in bringing me illegal games before the conscientious public get their hands on them. (I will actually buy the game, when it comes out. I've bought all the Warcraft games so far, and I intend to buy World of Warcraft when it comes out too. I just can't be bothered to wait). Anyway, so my time has well and truly been sucked into the bottomless vacuum that is Blizzard gaming. It seems odd to think that I've been following this continuous story since I was about 11 or 12. When did Warcraft come out? Mmmm, 1993, I think. So I'd have been, yeah, 12. And it's taken 9 years for them to get the story this far. It's not even finished yet either. The whole plot carries on in the next game. Meh. Anyway, it's a very good game, if a little unoriginal (it's almost identical to Starcraft, really). Has some of the best animations I've ever seen in my life though. I'm in awe of the Blizzard Cinematic team more than ever, and that's saying a lot.

Aaanyway, enough geekage. I really really ought to change those things at the sides. Good a time as any I suppose. Oh, and I think I'll try write another review of something tomorrow. God knows what.
