What the fuck?! FIFA, world football's governing body, have released their new official rankings, and I'm disgusted with them.
England have dropped one place from 7th to 8th, being replaced by Turkey at 7th! As if we didn't do as well as they did in the World Cup! They scrapped their way through the opening group (come on, in a group made up of Brazil, Turkey, Costa Rica and China, it's fairly obvious which two teams will go through) and then got an easy game. I mean, while we're taking an early lead against Brazil, Turkey had to take Senegal (fucking SENEGAL) into extra time in order to win! A jammy golden goal and FIFA reckon they're better than us? Are they taking the piss? They got knocked out by Brazil just the same, except they couldn't even score against them. Pfff!
Even more upsetting is the fact that USA have been named the 10th best team in the world! Are they...on glue?! What on earth is going on? Sure, they did pretty well in the World Cup, but 10th?! I mean, better than Italy? Better than Ireland? Better than Portugal? Better than Denmark (who, might I add, we hammered 3-0)? Take Brad Friedel out of their squad and they're utter shit. Can you really call a team the 10th best in the world just cos they've got a good keeper and they did well in one single tournament? If that were the case, why are Holland still up in 6th, when they didn't even qualify for the World Cup? Why are Argentina still in 5th when we beat them and sent them out of the competition in the opening stage? It doesn't make sense! Is this just more evidence of Sepp Blatter taking massive bribes again? What a fucking joke.
